Theresa Brooks

July 9, 1933 — September 1, 2020

Dallas

Theresa “LaVern” Brooks was born July 9, 1933 in Dallas, Texas to the parentage of the late Jesse and Savannah Wedgeworth.

LaVern accepted Christ early on in life and was a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.

She received her education in the Dallas Public Schools and graduated early, after the eleventh grade from Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1951.  She met Clifford G. Brooks Sr., and they married April 20, 1953. To this union two sons and four daughters were born.

LaVern was all about family and enjoyed attending activities with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was present at every sporting event, play, educational function and any other activity. She was a dedicated fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Mavericks, and Texas Rangers, and of course, The Wilmer Hutchins Mighty Eagles.  LaVern loved music, dancing, playing games, and preparing large holiday dinners.  She opened the doors of her home to so many “bonus children” and friends throughout the years, who remain family to this very day.

LaVern was preceded in death by her loving husband Clifford G. Brooks Sr. of 40 years, granddaughter Tiffany Nunn, son-in-law Jeff Nunn, three brother’s Willie Hugh, Richard and Robert Wedgeworth and one sister Jessie Lee Jones.

Carrying on in her memory, legacy, and love are her children: Tommy Brooks (Regina), Clifford G. Brooks Jr., Greta Berryman (Randy), Kim Nunn, Tonya Brooks, and Yolanda Willis (Patrick). Grandchildren: Michelle (Salim II), Kevin (Samantha), Ramon, Christopher, Travion, Kayla, Nicholas, Olivia, and Jakari. Great Grandchildren: Elise (Sterling), Salim III, Sierra, Amaya, Kameron, Kyson, Chozen, and Exavier.
