Oscar Simon Jr., was born on July 20, 1933 to the parents of Oscar Simon and Irisha Powell Simon.Both parents preceded him in death. He received his formal education in the Palestine Independent School District.As a child and young adult he attended the Brownspring Baptist Church in Palestine, Texas.He moved to Dallas and worked at Baylor Hospital where he met and later married his sweet pea. He enjoyed fishing, collecting guns, going to auctions and spending time with his family.

He was united to Laura Nell Ray in marriage on December 31, 1953. She preceded him in death. During this union 6 children were born. (4) sons: Phillip Simon (preceding him in death), Alvin (Kisha) Simon, Oscar L (Kathy) Simon and Chris (Stephanie) Simon, (2) daughters: Donita (Kevin) White and Nita (Oliver) Evans.

He also leaves to cherish his memories: god-son Mike Gaston, 12 grandchildren and their children: Alvin Simon II (3), Shaneka (Marcus) McFarland (3 plus two grandchildren), Marcus (Jackie) Simon (3 plus two grandchildren), Detra Simon (2), Oscar L Simon Jr., Monica Harris-Woodson (1), Maxie Simon (3), Alton Washington, Chris Simon Jr., Alicia Simon (3), Ashley Simon and Ke’yana Simon.

He also had 3 siblings, sister Ilester Hawkins residing in Palestine Texas, brother Melvin Simon, sister Mary Baker both preceding him in death, nieces: Helen Anthony, Janice Hawkins, Irisha Jones (Palestine), nephews: Graylan Hawkins, (Dallas), Latimer Jones (Palestine) Garfield Baker Jr. preceding him in death, and 2 sister-in-laws Pearl Sterns and Paulette Bell to cherish his memory and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
