THE OBITUARY….

Martha Mc-Bride Nelson affectionately known as “Punkin” was born April 1, 1934, in Dallas, Texas to the late Mr. Forest McBride Sr. and Mrs. Willie Banks-McBride.  Both parents preceded her in death.  Martha was the fifth (5th) of 13 children.

Martha McBride-Nelson attended school in Texas.  Shortly thereafter, she moved to Chicago, Illinois.  While living there, she met and married Mr. Isaac Nelson, Jr. on November 17, 1956.  Martha and Isaac lived happily in Chicago for many years and adopted Mr. Charles Greenwood (Chuck) as their beloved nephew.  Martha and Isaac were both members of New Canaan Land Baptist Church of Chicago where the Pastor was J.C. Weathers.

Martha McBride-Nelson worked in the dietary department at Michael Reese Hospital of Chicago.  While working there, she met two of her closest friends, Mary (May) Harding, and Polly Adrow.

Martha McBride-Nelson had a joyous spirit.  She was a devoted wife.  She loved family and children.  Martha also loved to talk and quite often joked.  She and one of her younger siblings Billy M. McBride Sr., shared a special bond from a young age.  They communicated at least two to three times a day.

Martha McBride Nelson enjoyed watching TV Westerns and listening to music especially the Blues.

Martha’s loving husband preceded her in death.  She leaves to mourn two sisters, Glenda McBride Brown and Lynda McBride Reeves (Caesar), one brother Billy McBride (Evere), and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Friends and Loved ones.

In Remembrance Of Our Sister, Martha Bess Nelson!!

The Moment that You left us, Our hearts were torn into, One side filled with heartache, the other left with you.

We all still lie awake at night, while the world is fast asleep, and take a walk down memory lane, with tears upon our Cheeks.

Remembering You is easy, we do it every day, but missing you is a heartache, that never goes away.

We hold you tightly within our hearts, and there you will remain, until the joyous day arrives, that we will meet again.

If Love would have kept You here, You never would have gone, But God Loved You so much more, and was ready for You to come home!

We will always Love You Punkin!
