Mrs. Julie Carolyn Young was born on May 10, 1942, in Dallas, TX to the late Lloyd and Ocie Ola Jacobs. She accepted Christ at an early age. She lived in Washington, DC, and Delaware, and returned to Dallas and attended Booker T. Washington High School. She married Willie Dee Mitchell, Jr. and to this union two daughters were born. She later married Billy E. Young and to this union one daughter was born. She worked at the U.S. Post Office for many years and later became a homemaker, volunteering her time to the church and caring for her grandchildren.

Julie was a member of Carver Heights Baptist Church and a member of Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church (AFMBC) from its founding. She had the honor of being the keynote speaker for the 1993 Women’s Day Celebration at AFMBC. She was active in the Mass Choir, Media Ministry, and Visitation Ministry and served as receptionist as well as a Sunday School teacher.

Julie enjoyed spending time with her family, and she was an avid reader and a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan.

Julie went home to the Lord on June 2, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband Billy E. Young, her parents, Lloyd and Ocie Ola, her older brothers Lloyd and Harold, and her older sister Melba.

She leaves to cherish her memories, three daughters, Rhonda (Efrem) Robinson, DeSoto, TX; Angela (Willie, Jr.) Smith, Aubrey, TX; Robyn (Richard) Diaz, Austin, TX; three step-children, Degie Johnson, Ennis, TX; Amelia (Ed, Jr.) Roberts, Mesquite, TX; Stacy (Aundrel) Young, Sr., Dallas, TX; a sister-in-law, Gayle Stoker, Dallas, TX; seven grandchildren, Efrem (Nikki) Robinson, Waxahachie, TX; Brittni Robinson, DeSoto, TX; Alec (Kimberly) Smith, McKinney, TX; Michael Smith, Oklahoma City, OK; Evan Smith, Oklahoma City, OK; Sydney Smith, Aubrey, TX; Richard Diaz, Austin, TX; four step-grandchildren, Donnie Copeland, Jr. Stacy Young, Jr., Amry Johnson, Jeremy Johnson; five great-grandchildren, Ashlynne Anderson, Kyler Wallace, Jonah Robinson, Kamryn Newman, and Aubree Smith; one step-great-grandchild, Kingston Young; and other relatives and friends.
