Hattie Woodard

January 13, 1946 — May 29, 2020

It is with love that the family of Hattie Faye Anderson Woodard announces her transition to Heaven after a long series of illnesses, on Friday, May 29, 2020, at the age of 74.

Faye loved life, and she loved blues music, and she loved to dance. She was born in 1946 when gas was $0.21, and the cost of a loaf of bread didn’t matter in the Anderson household because Johnnie and “Peaches” baked it all from scratch.

Her early years included spending long summers in the kitchen at Camp Texlake cooking with her parents and sisters, Jonnie Girl and Esther “Pixi”. In college, she studied Health Sciences and married WT Woodard in Austin, TX in 1975. Faye’s joys were service to others, her family, and friends. She was a long time member of Romine Avenue Christian Church and a steadfast Patient Care Assistant at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, TX, for 17 years.

Faye is lovingly remembered by her sister, Esther L. Anderson Phillips (Lorenza Phillips Sr.). She is also fondly remembered by her nieces and nephew Tracy L. McVea Hammonds (Broderick Hammonds Sr.), Pamela D. McVea Scales, Kem L. Phillips, Christi A. Phillips, and Lorenza A. Phillips Jr.

Plants and flowers are welcomed. The chapel at Lincoln Funeral Home is large enough to accommodate social distancing for up to 60 people if you would like to join the services in person. Return to this website on June 12 just before 1:00 PM for a live stream of Hattie Fay’s Celebration Service.

Our family rejoices that Faye is at the front of the Forever Soul Train Line with her mom, “Peaches”, dad, Jonnie L., husband, WT, younger sister, Jonnie Girl Anderson McVea, and niece Monette McVea Young, at the Blissful Blues Club. Hey, hey, the blues is alright!!

Plants, flowers, and donations are welcomed. Donations may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice Foundation. The mission of Heart to Heart Hospice Foundation is to improve the quality of life for those with life-limiting conditions and those nearing the end of life https://www.htohhfoundation.org/donation/
