Precious Memories

Willie Lee Johnson  was born August 8, 1939 to the late Maggie Lee Evans and Ezekiel Johnson of Homer, Louisiana.  He was active in the Homer Community and accepted Christ at an early age.  Willie graduated from Homer High School and then attended Grambling University.

Willie received his calling to serve the Lord as a young adult and made a positive difference in the large city of Dallas in both the Civil Rights Movement and religious arena.  Willie was ordained at Westmoreland Baptist Church by the late Pastor George W. Gaskin. He later started and founded Christ Way Missionary Baptist Church and served as the Pastor for a number of years. Prior to his passing, Willie was a member of Marvelous Light Community Church where he served as a devoted and faithful servant under the leadership of Pastor Eugene Johnson. Reverend Johnson led devotional, taught Sunday School, was a member of the prayer team, the Men’s and Mass church choir.

Reverend Johnson enjoyed making things work and was known to his family and friends as the person who could repair anything.  He was an entrepreneur and had a successful plumbing business.

The Reverend was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was genuinely interested in the wellbeing, happiness and success of others.  His compelling personality was evident in his love for people.

After a brief illness, “God called me (Reverend Johnson) out of the darkness into the Marvelous Light - 1 Peter 2:9” on Monday, February 26, 2018. He was preceded in death by two brothers Bobbie and Marvin Glosson, of Detroit Michigan. Willie leaves to be comforted:  One sister Carrie Hinson, of Detroit Michigan.

Four Sons: Sam Johnson, Anthony (Emma) Johnson, Lowell Johnson, and Horatio Johnson, all of Dallas, Texas.

Reverend Willie L. Johnson will also be missed by his nineteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
