It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mrs. Vesta L. Walker, affectionally known as Mother Walker, who passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, at the age of 82.
Mother Walker was known for her love for our Savior, King Jesus, for her kindness to everyone, for her love for mothers and children, for her passion for reading, for her knowledge of history, for her love of learning, for her sweet hugs and for her giving of snacks.
As a youth, Mother Walker learned tap dancing and was in a tap-dancing club. Mother Walker loved to worship the Lord with her feet (praise dancing) and with her voice. She sang in the various church choirs from a child through her senior years, until relocating to Nashville. She also sang the 12 Days of Christmas to her grandchildren from their 1st Christmas through this past Christmas.
Mother Walker relocated to Nashville to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She loved to laugh, and we laughed every day about growing up, trying to remember where we left something, or just remembering fun times from back in the day.
Mother Walker had an amazing sense of style. Her sense of style was born from her father urging his children to, “look your best when you go somewhere”. She took her father’s advice and ran with it. Everything she wore was uniquely coordinated: the shoes, the hats, the purses, the Apple Watch bands, and the jewelry. Even with all her years of experience, Mother Walker still asked her children, “how does this look?” Simply amazing mom, simply amazing.
Mother Walkers’ signature sign off to everyone she loved was “I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around your neck, Toot..Toot!!!”
Mother Walker is preceded in death by her parents, Rev Johnny L. Eades Sr and Ida Belle (Robinson), brother, Rev Johnny L. Eades Jr, sister, Rev Annette Armstrong.
Mother Walker is survived by her brother, Rev Melvin Eades Sr, children, Donna (Smith), Rhon Walker Sr and Kendall Walker; grandchildren, Terra Smith, RhonWalker II, Reggie Walker and Makeilah Walker; and great-grandchildren, Jaxxon and Ivy RoseKlinedinst and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
