Velma Marie Price was born on August 1, 1928, in Belton, Texas, to the late James and Gertrude Wooldridge. She was the youngest of four children—two brothers and two sisters—all of whom preceded her in death.
Velma was united in holy matrimony to the late Clarence Price, with whom she shared more than forty wonderful years of love and companionship.
A woman of compassion and purpose, Velma dedicated her life to caring for others. She found her calling in nursing, serving faithfully at Baylor Medical Center until her retirement in 1990. Even after retiring, her heart for service continued as she worked two additional years as a private duty nurse. Nursing was more than a profession for her—it was her ministry.
Velma accepted Christ at an early age and loved the Lord with her whole heart. She was a devoted member of Bethlehem Baptist Church for many years before joining Griggs Chappell in the early 1990s. Throughout her spiritual journey, “Sister Price” served in numerous ministries, including Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School President, and as a proud member of the Nurses Guild. Her faithful service, gentle spirit, and steadfast devotion to God touched everyone who knew her.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory: a loving daughter, devoted grandchildren and great-grandchildren, caring nieces, a host of cousins, and her beloved church family.
Velma’s life was one of love, service, and faith. Though she has departed from our sight, her kindness, wisdom, and devotion will forever live in our hearts
