We woke without you this morning. God reached from heaven and picked His most faithful and beautiful yellow rose. Thelma Pearlie Turner, age 95, passed peacefully on June 14, 2018. Thelma was the daughter of Willard Banks of Carthage, Texas and Hattie Simmons Banks of Bartlett, Texas. Thelma was born in Paducha, Texas on June 21, 1922. She married Edgar Turner of Shawnee, Oklahoma and they had two children, Rita Nell Turner Robinson (deceased 2015) and Rhonda Gail Turner of Dallas, Texas. Thelma later married Henry Wesley and Doris Jim Durham.

Thelma was a faithful member of Sims Chapel Baptist Church and Mount Pisgha Baptist Church. Thelma was a long time member of Harmonia #69 OES. Thelma worked as a domestic specialist and earned her living with her hands and heart. Thelma moved to Hamilton Park in 1967 and remained active in her community and church, was well known, and never met a stranger; Thelma was known for her generosity and friendly kindhearted nature.

Thelma Turner was preceded in death by her parents, sister Nellie Von, Brothers Willard Garland, Jimmy Murphy, and Joe Wilbert, daughter Rita, and three husbands.

Thelma leaves her daughter Rhonda, Brother Juan, grandsons Sterling and Stephen and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends, all of whom cherish her memory.
