Sonya Fields

September 20, 1961 — February 24, 2013

Sonya Alexander Fields made her debut to the world on September 20th 1961 to Almeta Alexander and Harrell E. Holly. From that day forward, she made the world her stage.

She attended the High School for Health Professions and H. Grady Spruce High School, graduating from H. Grady Spruce in 1980. Her desire to help heal the ailing human condition made her decision to pursue a lifelong career in the medical field an easy one. In 1982 she began working for Dr. Michael Carroll?s private practice. Sonya loved her job and serving her patients. Dr. and Mrs. Carroll were important in Sonya?s life. They were not only her employers; they were truly her friends and she considered them members of her family.

Sonya was blessed with the precious gift of motherhood on September 23rd 1980 when she introduced to the world, her only child, Curtis Luckey, Jr. In her own words, ?My son is my world?. She was married to James Fields many years.

Sonya truly enjoyed life and she lived it to the fullest. She was a virtuous steward of good will and she had a zeal to do whatever she could for those she saw in need. Her most memorable saying to all those she met was, ?Be careful?. Sonya enjoyed cooking and seeing others enjoy her food. Her infectious smile will always be remembered.

Knowing that faith in God and service to the ministry were essential to a well-balanced life, Sonya was a faithful and active member of Transforming Life Christian Fellowship under the pastoral care of Pastor Tyrone Gordon.

Sonya was preceded in death by her parents; her grandmother, Lillie Mae Alexander; and her aunt, Geneva Alexander.
