General Lee "Nellie" Jean Jones was born on March 1, 1944, to General Lee Simmons and Linnie Clay-Simmons in Lancaster, Texas. Nellie had seven siblings, of which she was the youngest daughter. She attended Wilmer Hutchins High School.
Nellie accepted Christ at an early age. For several years she served on the usher board at Holly Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas.
Nellie did not have biological children but raised many as her own.
In her early twenties, Nellie traveled across the United States and Germany. She married twice before finding the love of her life Auburn Jean Jones who served in the United States Marines.
Later in life, October 5, 2007, Nellie was Baptized and became a member of Eastside Church of Christ in Garland, Texas under Senior Minister, Bro. Bennie Garrett.
Nellie was a great storyteller, loved all genres of movies, and enjoyed Blues and Country music, lottery tickets, dipping snuff, playing cards, and dominoes. Nellie's favorite holiday was Christmas.
Preceded in death by her Husband Auburn Jones, Parents General Lee Simmons, Sr., Linnie Clay-Simmons, and Siblings G.L. Simmons, Willie Simmons, Lawrence Simmons, Fredia Howard, Juanita Archie, Charles Simmons, Ruthie Mae Harrison, and Willie Mae Hudson.
Nellie is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends that love her dearly.
