Nellie Harper

November 29, 1925 — May 10, 2019

Dallas,TX

Nellie Mae Jefferson was born in Elysian Fields, TX on November 29th, 1925 to Albert and Nettie Jefferson.  She attended her earlier schooling in Elysian Fields, TX.  They later moved to Dallas, TX where she continued her education at Lincoln High School.

She accepted Christ early in Life.  She united in marriage with Alexander Harper in 1958.  She was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church, Zion Travelers Baptist Church, and Greater New Light Missionary Baptist Church where her husband served as the Pastor. She served as an usher, deaconess, and mission. They later untied with Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church.  In the afternoon hour GOD called Nellie home from this labor of life to her eternal reward.

She will always be known for her cheerful laugh, her radiant smile, her helpfulness, her thoughtfulness, but most of all her joyful spirit. She always put a smile on your face and laughter in your hearts. She loved children and they loved her back. She was well known and cared for by many people.

Nellie is preceded in death by her mother Nettie, father Albert, brother Albert Jr, husband Alexander, granddaughter Aerrika, and grandson Harold Robertson.

She leaves to cherish her memories sister Susie Lindsey (Shreveport, LA), 2 daughters, Phyllis Robertson and Wanda Cornelius, grandchildren, Ross (Sabrina) Robertson, Dahnevyn (Tamara) Robertson, Damon, Tamia Robertson (Harold’s wife), 17 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren with uncles, aunts and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

“Mama it was GOD’S WILL for you to be born and it was GOD’S WILL for you to die, but it is our will to love you for the rest of our lives. You will never be forgotten and never be replaced. We will love you forever and always”
