On Tuesday, December 8, 2020, Mitchell Lee Garrett, loving brother and father of three children, passed away at age 54.
Mitchell was born on March 6, 1966, in Sherman, Tx., to Lewis H. Garrett, Sr., and Irene J. Garrett. He graduated from W. W. Samuell High School, Dallas, Texas, in 1984. He worked for the City of Dallas for several years in the refuse collection department. Mitchell never married; however, was blessed with one son, Chermane and two daughters, Brittiny and Ferron. His children meant the world to him. They brought the light of joy into his life and gave him a reason to always be happy every day. They were his treasures in life.
Mitchell had several passions. As a kid he enjoyed catching all types of critters from horny toads, turtles, spiders, and whatever else he could bring home to scare us with. His desire to help others set him apart from many. Mitchell enjoyed making people laugh. Even though he had many obstacles in his life; he conquered them. He always remained faithful to God even when things became unbearable. The One he knew always had his back no matter what. Keeping faith, strength, and love in his heart for his family brought him peace and understanding during his last days. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.
Mitchell had many names over his lifetime. Here’s a few: Brother, Killer, Pitbull. His last days Superman, Hero, Soldier, ‘Lil’ big brother and Warrior. He always told us he was a legend and believe it or not, he did make the news, (Smile). A man with more than nine lives. Pretty sure there are more!
Mitchell was preceded in death by his father, Lewis, mother, Irene, four brothers, Michael (his twin), Gregory, James and Thomas, two sisters, Deborah and Ruthie. He is survived by his three children, Chermane, Brittiny and Ferron, his six grandsons and one granddaughter, his siblings, Kay, Willie, Consuello, Yvonne, Lewis, Marcia and Mary. A host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
