Mary Reed

April 9, 1930 — July 26, 2020

DALLAS

Mary Olivia Reed was born in Alexandria, Louisiana, on April 9, 1930, to the late Milo and Lorene Hynson. She was raised in Jasper, Texas and graduated from Center Point High School in Pittsburg, Texas. She then attended Bishop College in Marshall, Texas. After relocating to Dallas, Texas, she furthered her education at Allstate Business College.

Mary was united in Holy Matrimony to Henry Reed, and was blessed with five children: Wanda, Ronald, Michael, Carletta, and Pamela.

She joined St.Paul A.M.E. Church October of 1950 and faithfully attended until failing health prevented her from doing so. During her robust years, she actively served as Assistant Secretary of Steward Board, Sunday School teacher, member of Prayer Warriors, member of the Gospel Choir, and member and treasurer of Charity Davis Women's Missionary Society.

Mary worked over 40 years in the retail industry and retired in 1994. She provided stellar customer service and was recognized by her employers of Carriage Shop, Neiman Marcus, Joskes, Sanger-Harris, Foley's and Macys. Upon retirement, she was able to devote more time to her family, church, and enjoyed her beloved hobby of reading.

On Sunday July 26, 2020, Mary Olivia Reed entered into eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Ronald and Michael Reed: and grandson, Brady Willis III (Stacey).

Her precious memories will be cherish by Henry Reed; daughters, Wanda Roberson, Carletta Willis and Pamela Teal (Lonnie); grandchildren, Brandee Davis and Dr. Briana Lewis; great-grandchildren, Kalah Davis, Kole Davis, Alexis Willis, and Brady Willis IV; and a host of other relatives and friends.
