Martha Ann Kennedy

Mrs. Martha Ann Kennedy was born on February 13, 1937 to the union of Mr. Acie Bradford and Birdie Lee Arnold Bradford in Smackover, Arkansas.  She was the second of eight children born to this union.  She was preceded in death by both parents; spouse, Johnny Kennedy; six siblings, Bettye Jean Pearson, James Bradford, Joe Willie Bradford, Johnnie Ray Bradford, Cedell Bradford, Robert Earl Bradford; and one grandchild, Karl “KJ” Adams III.

 

Martha accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at First Baptist Church in Smackover, Arkansas.

 

She graduated from Smackover Training School in 1955 and went on to study Healthcare Professions at Grambling State University in Grambling, Louisiana as well as Nursing at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.  Between schooling she met and married Mr. Johnny William Kennedy of Norphlet, Arkansas, became a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) and worked at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas for many years as well as a LVN for Primacare Medical Center.  To this union was born one child, Carol Kennedy Ross.

 

Martha and Johnny were faithful members of the Mt Pisgah Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas for many years and later became charter members of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church.  She served as a Sunday School teacher at both church’s as well as participated in several auxiliaries.  She served faithfully until her health began to fail.

 

She leaves to cherish her memories; one sibling, Acie Bradford Jr.; daughter, Carol (Kevin) Kennedy Ross; two grandchildren, Tevin Angelo Ross, Tavis Anthony Ross; one great-grandchild, Layla Paige Ross; and a host of nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins, church members, and friends.
