Maria Elena Amaro de Cortez,  (Nena) age 79, loving mother of six children

Ramon Cortez Jr, Roberto Cortez,  Mary Cortez Macias,

Rolando Cortez, Reynaldo Cortez, Ricardo Cortez,

the wife of Ramon Cortez Sr.

She passed away in the afternoon hours of February 1st in courageous battle for her life.

Maria Elena was born in 1942 in Villaldama, Nuevo Leon, Mexico grew up in

Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico surrounded by her large family, she had seven siblings.

Maria Elena was influenced by her loving mother Dora Amaro and grandmother Margarita Quinones to be  that courageous, loving, caring giving woman always. She incorporated the importantance of giving and took to heart being blessed meant she could bless others.

In1959 she met her husband Ramon Cortez Sr. in Nuevo Laredo Tamaulipas, Mexico and both fell in love and knew they both shared a love for family and decided to start their own. As a mother she was  strong minded,  generous, loving and kind.

Maria Elena was loving, caring grandmother and was absolutely thrilled about her family growing even bigger and the ideal of becoming a

great- grandmother again.

Maria Elena biggest accomplishment was becoming a member of San Augustin Catholic Church Choir she served the lord with her beautiful voice for many years. In her free time she loved creating beautiful floral arrangements, gifts baskets she was talented indeed.

She enjoyed being the center of attention which became the opportunities to listen to all her beautiful stories from the past.

She loved going out to eat at many  restaurants, but her favorite was Ojedas Restaurant specially if she knew it was Casino night after a nice dinner with family.

Maria Elena believed in God and wanted to be as faithful as the Virgencita de Guadalupe who truly was the example of love and faith in God.

Maria Elena will be missed dearly by her family, friends and specially by her four remaining children Roberto, Mary, Rolando, and Ricardo who adored her with all  of their hearts.

We know we can't have you but we're are happy and   rejoice with the angels as they guide you and  welcome you into heaven with God our creator who has called you to come home.

Goodbye to  wonderful, beautiful woman,  we called mother.

Maria Elena is survived by 1 Daughter, 3 Sons,19 Grandchildren,

25 Great- Grandchildren,

5 Siblings.

There will be a special Rosary & Mass for those who would like to attend for our beautiful mother
