LIFE EPITOME

Eldress Lillian M. Jeffries Shaw was a devout Christian virtuous woman of God, who held up the bloodstained banner, and kept the faith and endured until the end. She was one of the four siblings born under the parentage of Lillian and Dove Jeffries.  She was named after her mother. Two siblings preceded her in death {Eddie Mae (sister), Lee (brother)}.  She had strong faith in the Lord. Eldress Jeffries Shaw received her High School Diploma from Lincoln High School of the Dallas ISD.  She earned her Bachelor?s of Science in Education Degree and Master?s of Education Degree from Prairie View A & M University. She was a member of Phi Delta Kappa Sorority and the Superior Ladies Professional Women Organization. She was an educator with the Dallas Independent School District for 47 years and retired in 2004. Eldress Jeffries Shaw earned several honors while employed by the Dallas ISD, however, one of her greatest accomplishments was in 2001 when she earned her Reading Academy Laureate Award and Certification with her oldest daughter by her side. She taught at several Dallas ISD schools throughout the years and exuberated excellence: Paul L. Dunbar, George W. Carver, Roger Q. Mills, Charles Rice,   L. L. Hotchkiss, and 30 years at William Brown Miller Elementary School. She let her light shine throughout her family, church and community and personified God?s love.

Queen Bee met her late husband Elder L. J. Shaw while attending Prairie View A & M University, and they later married. They were blessed to live in holy matrimony for 42 years. He was her honey and she was his blue moon. To this union three daughters were born:
Evangelist Karen Shaw Holloway (Mark S.), Dr. Laquetta Shaw, and Mrs. Lillian Shaw McDaniel (Mark A.).

Queen Bee was a prayer warrior and instructor who possessed Godly wisdom. She was a Five Star General in the army of the Lord. She was a blessing and a monarch who lead with style, grace and dignity.  Her legacy continues.  Eldress Jeffries Shaw accepted Christ at an early age at the True Lee Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoral care of the late Pastor Robert Lawrence Parish and later Pastor Donald R. Parish, Sr. During her tenure at True Lee she served faithfully as a Deaconess, Vacation Bible School Teacher, and Choir Member. The True Lee Missionary Baptist Church presented her with the Outstanding and Dedicated Service Award in 1996. She also fellowshipped regularly at the Greater Mount Calvary Church of God in Christ with her mother. She later joined the Beginners Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoral care of Dr. Kenneth D. Pace. During her tenure at Beginners she was a faithful Deaconess, Vacation Bible School Teacher, Pastor?s Aide Cmte. Member, Matron?s Supervisor, and Honorary Matron. She also served many years as a Sunday School Teacher at Beginners Missionary Baptist Church. In 2010 the Queen Bee Book Club was chartered in honor of Eldress Jeffries Shaw. She received both the Beginners Lifetime Achievement Award and the Beginner?s Matron?s Woman of the Year Award in 2011. She also received the 2011 Sister 2 Sister Catalyst for Change Award from Theta Nu Together (TNT), the Texas A & M ? Commerce Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Alumnae Organization. Queen Bee was a class act and a phenomenal woman of God who exemplified style and grace while exuberating excellence and love in every task she under took. She was more than a conqueror and demonstrated the fruits of the spirit in her daily walk.

Queen Bee leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life:  her three devoted daughters, Evangelist Karen Shaw Holloway (Mark S.); Dr. Laquetta Shaw; Mrs. Lillian Shaw McDaniel (Mark A.); One granddaughter, Meosha McDaniel; and one great grandson, Anthony Goudeau (both of Port Arthur, Texas); One sister, Ms. Helen Taylor (Dallas); Two brother in-laws, Alvin Shaw (Dallas); and Lindberg Shaw (Austin, Texas). Three sister in-laws Hattie and Patricia (Houston, Texas) and Ethel Brane (Colorado Springs, Colorado); two special cousins, Mary Nelson and Frank Robinson (Dallas); one special great cousin, London Wilson (Houston, Texas), four great God children; Madison Bourke (Houston, Texas); Abrahia Moore, De?Asia Beaty, and Charisma Williams (all of Dallas) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, her pastor and her church family.

Visitation: 12-8pm with the family present from 7-8pm Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Lincoln Funeral Home.

Celebration Service: 11am Friday, February 22, 2012 at Beginners Missionary Baptist Church, 3610 Hancock St. Dallas, TX 75210.
