Celebrating the life, love and legacy of
Jonathan O’Keith Jackson (“Joe Rock” or “Rock”)
The journey of Mr. Jonathan Jackson began on February 13, 1964 in Fort Worth, Texas in Tarrant County. He was born to the proud parentage of the late Corlis Dell Jackson, Sr and Mamie Lois Jackson and was the baby of the family.
He was educated in Fort Worth public schools and graduated from Polytechnic High School and continued his education at Tarleton State University where he was on the basketball team. He took his love for basketball and began to coach the City Wide All Stars where many young men got their start along with his sons.
He married Charlotte D. Pearson on July 15, 1989. To this union one son was born, Jonathan Jackson, Jr.
Jonathan united with the Mt. Ararat Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and later in life moved His membership to the Mount Hermon Missionary Baptist Church under the pasturage of Pastor Aaron Ray.
Jonathan was employed as a driver for many years by Waste Management - Fort Worth and then continued as a driver for Fort Worth Independent School District until his health declined.
Jonathan was a very happy, outgoing, friendly person who never met a stranger. Loved being with the fellows and loved his entire family and was the Barbecue King. He was almost never without a laugh and a smile on his face. He loved getting together with the family at reunions and all family gatherings.
Every story has an ending and with that, Mr. Jonathan O’Keith Jackson story ended on Wednesday, the twenty-ninth of April two-thousand twenty. He surrendered to the call of his Master and transitioned from earth to glory. No more sickness, no more heartache and no more pain. He is now reunited with his father Corlis Dell Jackson, Sr and oldest brother Kit LaDarrell Jackson.
