Jimmie Ruth Haynes

Jimmie Ruth Haynes can be described as a loving, honest, dependable and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, godmother, aunt and friend to many. Those who knew her best knew that she was a prayer warrior for everyone she encountered. Jimmie’s great personality and uplifting spirit made everyone feel cared for and cherished. As we celebrate her life, we are blessed with memories of her endless love that will last us a lifetime.

Jimmie Ruth Haynes was born May 21, 1939 to the late Mr. Robert Lee Corsey and Mrs. Walter Steen Corsey. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Pleasant Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Jimmie served on the Usher Board as treasurer and president. She always had a heart to serve, even in challenging times. People who knew and loved her always saw her light that shined on countless lives. Jimmie truly set the example of how to live a life of service for Christ.

Jimmie received her education in the Dallas Independent School District and graduated from Lincoln High School. She was employed at Texas Instruments and retired after 33 years of service. During her retirement years, she enjoyed sewing, reading, decorating, fashion and volunteering for numerous charities. Jimmie was very proud of her family and would talk to people all the time about all the special gifts and talents of her children and grandchildren. Jimmie was married to Ulysses Chism Sr. who preceded her in death. To them three children were born, Charlotte Parson, Ulysses Chism Jr., and Vicki Gunnels. Jimmie later married Robert Lee Haynes. They celebrated 53 years in marriage.
