Mr. Jay Horace Manus was born to George and Velma Manus on
 
 January 30, 1931, in Naples, Texas. He attended the Naples Public
 
 School District. He joined Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church
 
 at an early age. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. He
 
 retired from Associated Spring Barnes Group, Inc. after 30 years of
 
 employment. He joined Harding Street Baptist Church under the
 
 pastorate of the late Richard D. Manson, Sr. He served as a deacon
 
 and an associate minister while attending Harding Street Church.
 
 He founded The Temple Church and remained a faithful shepherd
 
 until he became ill.
 
 
 The loving and merciful God called him home November 2, 2012.
 
 
 Preceded in death by His loving and devoted wife of fifty-three years,
 
 Gladys Lois Manus; by parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Manus; by
 
 sisters, Sara Woods and Minnie Hall; and by brothers, Billy Manus,
 
 Napoleon Lambert and Willard Manus.
 
 
 Mr. Jay Horace Manus leaves to cherish his memory: Sister, Allie
 
 Taylor; brothers, James Manus (Edith), George Manus and Joe
 
 Manus; brother-in-law, Aaron Jacobs of Los Angeles, California;
 
 sons, Horace (Linda) Manus and Carl Manus; daughters, Audrey
 
 Manus and Beverly (Anthony) Akamnonu; grandchildren, Kerry
 
 Manus, Kevin Manus, Micah Manus, Kyria Manus, Anthony
 
 Akamnonu, Jaclyn-Marie Akamnonu, Jay Manus, Madison
 
 Akamnonu, and Kerian Akamnonu. In addition, he leaves a host of
 
 nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
