On Tuesday, August 11, 2020, Jaree Reed, a lawful husband, and legal father of six children died at age 85 in Dallas, Texas.
Jaree was born on March 8, 1935, near Lisbon, Louisiana to the late Charles J Reed and the late Merdis Nelson-Reed. He attended public schools in Lisbon, Louisiana, and while there developed a love for numbers. He was known as a good employee of LTV Corporation of Grand Prairie, Texas for over 30 years where he received recognition as an outstanding worker. In the early 1960's, he married Doris Jean Bennett Reed. They had six children, Micheal, Jaretha, Allen, Lisa, Rosalind, and Detrie.
Jaree had a deep passion for singing blues music. This special gift captured the hearts of many listeners and led to him being called, " The Blues Man." His blues music was admired not only by friends and family, but also by all who frequented the clubs and hot spots he liked. Jaree also loved to play bingo and attended horse race events. Jaree loved to impress people by his style of wearing many suits, hats, and shoes. Late in life, he develop a close relationship with his youngest daughter, Detrie. Jaree was proud to have children who tried to lead him to Jesus Christ.
Jaree was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, his daughter, Lisa, his stepson, Michael, his brother, Milton Reed Sr., his brother, William(Man) Reed, his sister, Merdree Reed, his sister Maxine Henry (Reed), his brother, Eugene Reed, his two sisters of California, Nazerene Knox, and Eliza Hill and his three aunts, Charlsie Franklin and Johnnie Mae Milum of Shreveport, Louisiana and Zarie R. Thompson of Homer, Louisiana.
Jaree is survived by his four children, Jaretha Reed, Allen (Sherrell) Reed, Rosalind(Bobby) Mason, and Detrie Reed, his grandchildren (Henry Watson Jr., Isaac Watson, Timothy Watson, Amos Watson, Jonathan Watson, Brenda Reed, Courtney Reed, Kedran Reed, Deborah Reed, Azaria Reed), his great-grandchildren, his brother Henry(Frances) S. Reed, his brother Jeff(Mildred) Reed, his brother Philip Reed, his sister-in-law, Betty Reed(widow of Milton Reed); and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
