Born October 11, 1936 in D'Lo, Mississippi, James Monroe Smith Sr. passed away peacefully at home in Desoto after a courageous battle with cancer. His wife of 45 years Alicia, was by his side.
He was preceded in death by his son, James Monroe, Jr. He is survived by his wife Alicia Darensbourg-Smith; daughter, Nicole Smith McDavid; sons, Mark Brooks and James Rock, 10 grandchildren. His physical presence will be missed but his quiet strength and enduring words of wisdom will be passed through family generations as an example of how to live a great and wonderful life.
