Helen Ivery

July 29, 1928 — January 21, 2012

Helen Marie Harrison Ivery was born on July 29, 1928 in Sulphur Springs, TX to the late Richard and Arena Harrison. She was the ninth child in a family of twelve. Helen confessed Christ at an early age and united with East Caney Baptist Church where she was baptized in the pond. Years later, the family moved to town where she joined Morning Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and served joyfully with the Mission and Usher boards. She attended school in the Sulphur Springs school system.

Helen met and married William Ivery. Her great joy was taking care of her husband and two daughters. She exemplified what a Godly woman, mother and wife should look like. When her husband became ill, she blessed him by lovingly taking care of him until he went home to be with the Lord in 1988. In 1991, Helen decided to move to Dallas to be closer to her family. She continued her legacy of love to her family by being available to them unconditionally. She joined Mt. Sinai Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. U.S. Cornelius, Sr. While she was active, she loved VBC and Sunday School involvement. Helen departed this life to her heavenly home on Saturday, January 21, 2012.

Others who preceded her in death were her parents, three brothers, and seven sisters.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory: two daughters, Lonzetta Jones (Lloyd), Paula Young (Gerald); four grandchildren, Gerald Young, Jr., Kevin Jones, Tiffinni A. Young, Crystal Young all of Dallas; sis great grandchildren; one sister, Lillian Childs of Sulphur Springs, TX and a host of nieces, nephews relatives and friends.
