Everett Leon
McDade
Aug 9, 1956 — Jul 5, 2026
Everett Leon McDade was born on August 9, 1956, in Fort Worth, Texas to the parents of Elnora (Page) Walton and Gordon McDade. He spent some of his formative years in California, but the majority of his childhood he grew up in the neighborhoods of Oak Cliff and West Dallas.
He attended the then Dallas West congregation now named West English congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses along with his mother and his stepfather Eddie Walton and was baptized in the early 70s. He would meet many friends in his childhood including the Johnson family and his future wife Karen, they married on November 23, 1974, nearly 52 years ago and went on to have two sons Jarrod and Justin. One of the true joys of Everett's life was becoming a grandparent to Abi and Gia who visited frequently.
Everett was an avid music lover and was known by his DJ name "Ice". To his family, he was simply McDade, Mac, Uncle Rabbit and "Paw Paw" by his granddaughters. In his career life he worked as a general contractor for many decades.
In recent years, Everett felt the need to get himself back acquainted with Jehovah's organization. After the encouragement from his wife and extended family, he would sometimes sit in on Zoom meetings, read articles or watch videos on the jw.org website which was one of his top bookmarks on his computer and enjoyed listening to the original songs from the JW media website. It was his desire to start attending in person one day once his mobility improved. The encouragement to get re-associated with Jehovah's organization was also a big help from his brother-in-law, Stanley Johnson, whom he affectionately called "Erle Erle", but most often his best friend.
Everett is proceeded in death by his parents, his two brothers Aaron and Billy McDade and is survived by his loving wife, Karen, his two sons Jarrod and Justin McDade, his granddaughters Abi and Gia, sisters, Mary Helen Page, Melissa McDade and Sylvia Phinisee. He is also survived by his aunt Alice Tucker whom he grew up with as they are close in age, and their relationship was more like siblings, and they were known for their witty banter with each other. As well as a long list of nieces, nephews' relatives, friends, and associates.
Everett passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026, and it appeared that he was simply resting when he was found with no signs of distress which has been a source of comfort to the family to know that he symbolically went to sleep just as the Bible likens death to sleep, that one day those who have passed will be awakened in God's New World.
Family Statement:
The McDade family would like to thank everyone for their phone calls, texts, visits, prayers and warm thoughts. Losing a loved one is never easy, but the burden has been lessened with the support of our friends and family who have spent their time, opened their home, and provided resources for us -- this has been more than an amazing expression of Jehovah's love through his people.
