Mrs. Essie Mae Taylor was born January 18, 1931, to the parents of Mae Fannie and Elzie Henderson. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas, Texas and Late obtained a nursing certificate at El Centro College and had a flourishing career as a medical assistant. She late united, as a young mother, with Progressive Baptist Church in West Dallas.
