Melvin Wayne Boles (Ricky) was born October 8, 1948 to Helen Boles and Elliott Nicholson in Dallas Texas.

Melvin got baptized at an early age at Sunlight Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev CC Cheatmam. Later became a Member of  New Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor B L Bell

Melvin served in many capacities at the church, He was a Deacon, he was a member of the  Men’s Ministry; singing as well as sharing the gospel throughout the city.  Along with the Men’s Ministry and Pastor Bell , Melvin loved sharing the Gospel and the things God was doing in his life. Melvin loved Pastor Bell because Pastor was very encouraging  in his walk with Christ.  Melvin never met a stranger ,so sharing the gospel to everyone he met was an easy task.

Melvin loved  His wife Linda (Lucy) she was the love of his life. They were married fifty three years. To their  union 2 children were born Melvin (Man) and Elliott (Papa)

Melvin and Linda were known by most as Ricky and Lucy because of the bond and the loved they shared.

Melvin  was very comedic and Linda being the loving and caring wife complimented him in all he did.

As father to “Man” and “Papa”, he was loving, supportive, as well as caring.  He was always encouraging his sons with positive and sound advice.

As a grandfather, Melvin was the “Paw-Paw to Elexiya, Taylor, and Elliott II, aka ‘Lil Papa II.”  The “grands” will  truly miss their phone calls with Paw-Paw.

Melvin loved and was beloved by his entire family.  BUT he had a very special Niece that he simply adored, Paige Lindsey.  He loved her and she loved him back.

Melvin also had two Aunts that held a special place in his heart, Betty and Earlene
