Clayton’s Story


A time to be born:
Clayton (little boy) Buchanan was born August 8, 1941 in Monroe, LA to the late Philip Buchanan and Minnie Jordan Buchanan
A time to grow and learn:
Clayton known as “Little Boy” to his family and “Big Buck” to his friends. Clayton accepted Christ at an early age at New First Baptist Church in Swarts, LA and was baptized by Rev. Houston Johnson. He graduated from Richwood High school in 1960.
A time to love:
On May 4, 1961, Clayton married the love of his life, Katherine Gibson and they united for 39 years.
A time to work:
Clayton was a conscientious and dedicated worker. No job was to large or small for him to take on. He was a man of many skills. However he spent most of his adult years as a tire rethreader for Goodyear Rubber.
A time to serve:
Big Buck was a self-taught mechanic. He served his community as a mobile mechanic. Helping family, friends and strangers with basically any issue they had dealing with their car. He was a gentle giant with a heart of gold. He was always ready to extend a helping hand.
Clayton is proceed in death by his parents, his wife Katherine Buchanan, one brother Philip Buchanan Jr., two sisters Naomi Norweather and Vera Modicue, one daughter Jeanette Gibson, one son Clayton “BoBo” Buchanan and one granddaughter Gayle Mullen.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his brother David Buchanan, Des Moines, Iowa, a sister Bernice Heater, Monroe, LA, one son Richard Gibson, Dallas, TX, four daughters Patty “Princess” Gibson, Geneva “Joann” Buchanan, Mary Buchanan-Lewis and Sandra Buchanan, all of Dallas, TX. As well as his grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nephew, nieces, cousins and a host of friends.
