DALLAS

A TIME TO BE BORN

Clara B. Shepard-Roberson was born July 4, 1930, to the proud parents of the late DeWitt Shepard and Arie V. Thomas-Shepard. She was the second oldest of ten children. She was formerly united to Sylvester Higgins and this bought two beautiful children.

A TIME TO SERVE THE LORD

At an early age, Clara confessed her life to Christ and was baptized at Philadelphia Baptist Church in Crowville, LA. She later moved her membership, to True Lee Baptist Church in Dallas TX, in her early twenties. She was lead singer of the choir at True Lee Baptist Church for many years. She also, taught Sunday School for twenty-seven years. Clara was ordained to the work of the Gospel Ministry in 1983. She got a certificate from Christ for the Nation and Moody Bible Institute. She attended and graduated from Southern Bible Institute. She also, played the piano.

A TIME OF REMEMBRANCE

Clara enjoyed going to church, shopping for her house. She loved her car loved cleaning her house. She was a hard worker for many years and she was very creative; if it was old, she made it look new. She loved praying for people and singing. Most of her life was spent in church, which started at an early age. Clara's favorite word was "trust me".

A TIME TO SAY GOODNIGHT

On Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 3:49pm, our beloved and beautiful mother, Clara transitioned over to glory land. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Roberson; Son, Melvin Higgins; Father, DeWitt Shepard; Mother, Arie V. Thomas-Shepard; Brothers, J.W. Shepard; James Shepard; Verner Shepard; Larry Shepard; DeWitt Shepard, Jr. and Reed Shepard.

She leaves precious memories with those who loved her and will be missed immensely, by her son, Willie B. Higgins of Dallas, TX. Five grandchildren,Marquest Higgins; Melvin Higgins, Jr.;Kevin White; Erica White; and Sean White. Seven great-grandchildren; Two great great-grandchildren; Five sisters, Ida Cade; Ermie Shepard-Heard;Zoria Washington(Buddy); Margaret Shepard, all of Dallas, TX. Lola McClain of Chicago, IL. God-daughter, Carolyn Brown; God-son, Johnny Turner and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
