Bettie  Fryer Butler

Bettie Jo Fryer Butler was born March 7, 1936, in Dallas, Texas to the late Herman Fryer and Ellie (Logan) Fryer.  She was the fifth of six children:  Ida Farrington, Will Herman Fryer, Herma Lee Adams, Robert Fryer, and Alonzo Fryer.

She received her education in the Dallas Public School System.  Later attending Bishop College in Marshall, Texas where she was crowned “Miss Bishop College.”

She later married, and five sons were born which were her greatest blessings and joys in life, Derrell Cooper of Dallas, Tx., Michael Cooper (Stephanie) of Desoto, Tx., Ira Glenn Cooper of San Antonio, Tx., Charles Ray Cooper (Nelda) of Memphis, Tn., and Lewis Marshall Butler Jr. (Angela) of Desoto, Tx.

Bettie accepted Christ at an early age and experienced God’s peace and contentment.  She became a member of New Canaan Missionary Baptist Church serving faithfully as a dedicated member of the choir, financial team, women’s mission and various other ministries.

Over the years Bettie had a career with the Dallas Housing Authority, Sanger Harris Department Store and her most loved position was with Southwest Airlines where she worked in the Customer Relations Department until her 2nd retirement. After retiring from Southwest Airlines, Bettie remained close friends with her Southwest Airlines co-workers.

Bettie was known as a strong and determined mother, who led with an iron fist and loving heart.  Those who remain to celebrate her life, love and legacy are her 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends that love her dearly.
