Annette Lowery Locket

April 9, 1939 — December 9, 2025

Dallas

Annette Lowery Lockett was the sixth child of Ulyses and Deborah (King) Lowery, born on May 1, 1939, in West, Mississippi. Annette graduated from Holmes County Training High School on May 15, 1958, and shortly thereafter moved to Freeport, Illinois. While living in Illinois, she was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church.

Annette married Errol Floyd Lockett in January 1961. To this union were born three children: Kimberley Lockett (Price), Julius Lockett, and Amy Lockett (Lemons). In August 1967, they moved their family to Fort Worth, Texas. Annette and her family joined Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a dedicated member of the choir. Annette was a steadfast wife and mother, as well as an accomplished seamstress and homemaker. Her mastery of cooking, baking, sewing, and other domestic arts earned her a positive reputation throughout the community. While living in Fort Worth, Annette held a variety of jobs and later retired from the Fort Worth Independent School District, where she worked as an elementary school cafeteria staff member.

In July 2009, Annette moved to Lexington, Mississippi, where she attended West Missionary Baptist Church. She returned to Dallas, Texas, in October 2018 and resided there until she returned home. At that time, Annette was the matriarch of both the Lowery and Lockett families and was beloved by all.

Annette was preceded in death by her parents, Ulyses and Deborah Lowery; her three Lowery brothers; her four Lowery sisters; her former husband, Errol Floyd Lockett; her grandson, Rodrick A. Lemons, Jr.; and her great-granddaughter, Madisun Price.

Annette is survived by her honored sister, Clara B. King; her children, Kimberley L. Price (David), Julius C. Lockett (Darlene), and Amy L. Lemons (Rodrick); her nephew, Keith Lowery (Diane); eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and a host of others who affectionately called her “Granny,” along with nieces, nephews, and extended family who will continue to honor her life and legacy.
