Alex Greer

Alex Greer, Jr. was born on May 28, 1954 in Dallas, TX to his parents, Velma and Alex L Greer, Sr. As a frolicsome child, he brought an abundance of joy and laughter to his family and close friends. During his teenage years, he met and later married Deborah Rhynes on July 28, 1973. The dynamic duo later remarried on April 10, 2000.

Alex proudly attended James Madison High School and graduated from WW Samuell High School in 1972. He continued his studies at El Centro College. As a young man, his father instilled a strong work ethic in him, and he took on his first job as a shoe shiner. Alex’s tenacity and entrepreneurial spirit led to him successfully establishing a business in the Concession and Hospitality Industry. As the patriarch of his family, Alex took pride in being a leader and provider.

Alex was adventurous and full of life—a spontaneous man to say the least. He loved History, sports, traveling, visiting casinos, fine dining, cooking, and spending quality time with his loved ones.

After resolutely battling his illness for several months, our beloved Alex entered eternal life on December 26, 2019. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dollie and Alex Greer; maternal grandparents, Lillie and Walter Langdon, Sr.; parents Velma and Alex L Greer, Sr.; baby sister, Baby Greer (1953); and son, Alex L. Greer, III.

He leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Deborah Greer; children, Alexis Greer, Anthony Graves (Tacha), LaTonya Saunders, Andrian Rhynes, De’Andra Onyekwere; grandchildren, Alex L Greer, IV., Tierra Greer, Donell Greer, Zion Greer, Rain Greer, De’Ayra Gaines, Tsion Greer; great-grandson, Mason Greer; sisters, Velma Jean Wilkerson and Theresa Greer-Booker (Michael Lee); a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
