Addie Hutchins, a woman of remarkable spirit, unwavering faith, and an expansive love for her family, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2026. She was 85 years old. At the time of her passing, she was surrounded by her loved ones at Charlton Methodist Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
Born in Natchez, Mississippi, on October 30, 1940, to Samuel Hines Sr. and Jeanette Wells, Addie grew up with a deep love for the outdoors. Whether she was riding horses through the countryside or spending time fishing, she loved being outdoors.
At a young age, she married her lifelong partner, Clarence Hutchins Sr. After many years of dedicated service at Morton Foods Inc., Addie partnered with Clarence to run their successful family landscaping business. Together, they built a legacy of hard work and shared purpose that provided for their large, thriving family.
Addie’s faith in Jesus Christ was her cornerstone. She was a devoted member of Faithful Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas. From the early start, she and her family shared a bond with Faithful and was a friendship rooted in faith and mutual respect that spanned decades.
She was preceded in death by her father, Samual Hines Sr., her mother, Jeannette Wells, her brothers, Rev. Charles Hines and Rev. Samuel Hines Jr.
She leaves behind a vibrant and historic legacy, including her devoted husband, Clarence Hutchins Sr.; her children, Jimmy Earl Hutchins (Sharon), Debra Ann Bernard (James), Clarence Hutchins Jr. (Angelia), Larry Hutchins (Jackie), Barbara Ann Hutchins, Alfred Lee Hutchins Sr. (Wanda), and Homer Anthony Hutchins. Her memory will be cherished by her sister, Ethel Marie Freeman; her brother, Willie Wells (Diane); and her 21 grandchildren, along with a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
