The sound of music could be heard far and wide on August 5, 1968, when Millette Genay Johnson-Pruitt was born in Dallas, Texas, to James Oliver Drawhorn, Jr., and Helen Sargent. She was the third of four children born to the pair. She attended Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School and later returned to complete her studies.
Millette grew up with her siblings in the area known as Oak Cliff. At an early age, Millette accepted Christ as a member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church and she later joined Oak Gardens Church of Christ, where she was an active member until her passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Jerry Dewayne Pruitt.
Millette leaves her legacyto be upheld by her three children, Johnesha Johnson (Onita), Gabri’el Pruitt and Jovan Pruitt. She also leaves behind one sister, Alicia Brown (Betty); brother,s James Drawhorn III and Keith Drawhorn; and four nephews, one niece, and a host of relatives and friends.
Millette was a free spirit with a caring heart. She had a smile and personality that would light up a room. She was bound and determined to make life worth living. She loved God and was true believer. She had no problem with telling it like it is and was! She will be truly missed by all who have experienced the Queen that she was.
